DATA HANDLING & STATISTICS

Marathon

Successive world records for the marathon for both males and females from inception to 1987.

The question of interest is whether the data can reasonably be used to predict future world records. In particular, do the data provide evidence that in time women can be expected to run faster marathons than men?

The Men and Women's results are stored separately.
HOURS, MINS, SECS: race duration in hours, minutes and seconds.
FIRST NAME, SURNAME: name of the winner.
COUNTRY: nationality of the winner.
CITY: city in which the race was held

TIME: race duration (decimal hours)
